Led by the Burbank Tenants Union, renters are asking for rent control, local protections and adjustments to state rent control law including the closure of a controversial loophole in Assembly Bill 1482 that allows landlords to evict tenants if they intend to make renovations to a property.
Anthony still favors rent stabilization but wants to see the process expedited.

Current Burbank Mayor Konstantine Anthony pushed hard to get Measure RC on the ballot in 2020.

Burbank Approves $600,000 for Interim Renter Relocation Assistance
At their June 13th meeting, the Burbank City Council voted unanimously to allocate $500,000 towards relocation assistance under an Interim Program as well as an additional appropriation of $100,000 for a total of $600,000 in General Fund money to fund a professional services agreement (PSA) with Home Again Los Angeles (HALA) to administer a renter relocation assistance program that includes housing navigation services.
Rent control was on the docket for the Burbank City Council on Tuesday, a hotly contested issue statewide, and one that the Burbank electorate struck down during the 2020 general election in the form of Measure RC.
